On the road again

Here we go again.
From what we know this is our last trip to Epic for a while.  We leave today and return Thursday night (my birthday- lucky me).

We should have driven ourselves.  We get done with class on Thursday at noon and the rest of our group isn't done until 5 pm so the bus is scheduled to leave around 5:30 pm.
I won't be making it home by dinner time and won't be seeing my family on my Birthday.
If we drove, we would be home right around dinner time.
But....we decided to take the bus.  That way nobody has to put the miles on their vehicle and of the group, I am the only one that actually LIKES to drive so there wasn't anyone else jumping at the chance to get behind the wheel.  Loriann offered to let us take her vehicle but because she can't make a decision and just tell us that that was our plan we didn't drive.  It didn't feel right making the decision for her and then having someone else (more than likely me) be behind the wheel of her vehicle for 9 hours- she should have demanded :-)

Right before we boarded the bus Loriann handed me an adorable little box with a message "Here, now I don't have to be responsible for how this travels."
Opened the box to find this adorable little guy looking up at me....begging to be eaten.

As we claimed our seats on the bus and took a final roll call we were also informed that we needed to stop in Northfield to get a new bus.  Apparently this one didn't have any heat so we could either wait for a bus to come and rescue us from Midway or we could start on our journey and just take a detour to reboard.  The weather has been horrible- snow, ice and wind- so we opted to get on the road and at least start moving.
We arrived around dinner time so a group of us headed out to Gray's Tide House for dinner.
We had heard about their chocolate covered cheese curds and decided that it was a must try item.

Hmmm...interesting.
The batter is almost like a brownie batter.
The cheese is a very light flavored white cheese of some sort.
They were drizzled in chocolate sauce and served with a heaping pile of whipping cream for dipping.

They weren't really good but they were by no means horrible.  Just sort of weird.
These would be a HIT at the State Fair....hard to believe someone hasn't thought of it yet.

My home for the next few days.....
