Picture Perfect

Mike, our realtor, informed us that they are getting ready to come over and take pictures of the house.  We were told we should think about putting it on the market soon so we need to get everything ready.  We spent the weekend picking up and decluttering a little.  We started packing up boxes and carrying things out to the garage.  (to be fair, Brian did most of the lifting and moving)

House is officially picture ready!

Earrings Round 2

This morning the girls woke up and saw that the sun was shining.  That was all they needed to start begging to go outside to play.  They grabbed a few rakes and made a small pile of leaves to jump in.

After they had their fun (and the football game was over) it was time to run some errands.  While we were out I mentioned to Hailey that if she wanted we could go back and try the earrings again.
She was still on board so here goes nothin'!

Like a champ she walked in and took her seat.  The lady came over, we explained what happened and she had a talk with Hailey to confirm that this is what she wanted to do.  Hailey had NO second thoughts about it.   She sat still as could be and within a few minutes her ears were pierced for the second time this weekend!  So proud of you little monster!

"Mommy, my earrings are hurting me yegs"

I woke up this morning to Hailey calling out for me.
I stumbled my way downstairs and opened her door to see what she needed.
"Mommy, my earrings are hurting me yegs (legs)".

What?!  I must have heard that wrong.....

"My earrings.  They hurting me in the yeg."

It was pretty early and still dark out so I felt for her ears and sure enough they were earring-free.
I felt around in her bed and found her earrings.
I turned on the light and confirmed that yes indeed, her earrings were out of her ears.  sigh

"Buddy, what happened?!  Did you take these out?  Were you messing with them?  Were they hurting you?  What happened?"
"They just falled out."  That is her answer and she is sticking to it.

Later in the day I called Claire's to see what we do now.  The girl said that sometimes the backs are defective and they just aren't tight enough or they do just come apart.  She said it would be pretty hard for a four year old to take them out if they weren't defective.  She apologized and said if we waited 24 hours and came back they would redo them for free.

I have to admit, even though she did such a great job getting them done, I didn't think she would be willing to go back and do it again....at least not so soon.  She also didn't seem like she was too upset about it so I wasn't sure she would really want to.

We mentioned it to her and asked if she wanted to try again tomorrow and she was IN!  (this little girl is pretty amazing)

On another note......we went a little preshopping today!  We know that within the next month we are going to get a list of decisions to make from the builder and we know that tile for the bathrooms is on the list so we made a trip to Ceramic Tileworks today to look around.

Pretty sure we found our master bathroom shower tile!
I absolutely LOVE the look of this tile.

Your Majesty

I can not get over what a big girl Hailey has been lately!

She told us a few weeks ago that she wanted earrings once she was four and now that her birthday has come and gone, she has not forgotten.

So tonight we went to dinner and then took our little grown up to get her ears pierced.
When they got out of the car they both bolted to the front door.  By the time Brian and I were in, Hailey had already taken her place on the chair and was holding the bear- assuming the position.

There was only one girl working so she had to do each ear separate.   I was a little worried that once she got the first one done there was NO way she would allow the other one to be done.
BOY was I wrong.  She sat like a champ!

Didn't make a peep! She was so proud of her new earrings.
'Hey Hailey- what is that shining in my backseat?!"
"My earrings!!!"

Tonight on our way downstairs I turned to see that Hailey was still at the top.
Me:  "Whatcha doin'?- come down."
Hailey: "Mom, you need to call me Majesty."
Me:  "Oh sorry. Please come downstairs Majesty."
I tuned to make my way down the next flight- still no Hailey.
Me: "Um, Majesty, why aren't you coming?"
Hailey: "You 'posed to take my hand."

Reality sets in

More meetings with the builder and we are that much closer to our new house!

I had a little reality check today as we reviewed our plans and saw a loft where the 4th bedroom used to be.   It was a tough decision and one that I second guess a lot.  As we were determining how to best use our new square footage, we had to address the 4th bedroom upstairs.  We have been pretty sure that there will not be anymore kids for us.  As much as I would LOVE to have another, Brian is not so convinced it's a great idea.  The girls keep us pretty busy and we are starting the down slope of daycare costs.  We could keep that 4th bedroom 'in case' and just use it as a craft room for now.....sounds like a great idea to me but also pretty selfish.  Brian had a great point about the girls needing a place to 'hang out' in the morning or with their friends as they get older and within minutes the decision to turn the bedroom into a loft was made.  We will have space in the unfinished basement for another bedroom which I am hoping can be my craft room someday.

So, although I pretty much already knew, this is the end of babies in the Parmley house.
-sniff sniff-

You will what?!

Today I picked up Hailey from daycare.  When she got in the car she started whining about having to go and pick up Hannah.
Hailey:  "I not want to get Hannah. Mom, can I just wait in the car, please?"
Me: "Ummm, no."
Hailey:  "WHY?!"
Me: "Because, you can't.  You are too little.  What if someone tries to steal you?"
She answered so matter-of-factly
Hailey: "I will break them head off."

'Normal'

As life starts to return to normal for most of the family, it will continue to be choas at our house.
Brian and I are both entering a very busy season at work, there will be meetings and decisions about the house and there is a lot of packing to do.

I came home tonight and for a minute things felt 'normal' again.  I pulled into the driveway to find the girls back to their entrepreneury ways.

The sign reads FREE PICTURES and the cooler is full of merchandise.

Goodbyes always suck

It was SO nice to have Kari home for Jennie's wedding!
She leaves tomorrow morning to head back home and be reunited with her family.

We met at Grandma's and had pizza to say goodbye.
See you at Christmas!  (we sure are SPOILED this year!)

The party continues

The weekend ended with the gift opening at Tom's parents this evening where the love for Jennie and Tom continued.

My favorite gift of the day was the personalized cutting board that Kim got them- it was so cool!

Hannah kept hiding under the presents so when Tom leaned over to pick one up he had a surprise underneath.

They leave for their Honeymoon tomorrow and life will go back to semi-normal for the rest of us.

Happy, Happy, Happy

Happy Birthday Hailey!
What a special memory you will forever have of your 4th birthday.  You get to share your day with your auntie Jennie and uncle Tom as they get married.
You didn't mind one bit and I am pretty sure you felt pretty special as everyone made a point to celebrate you today as well.
This morning when you woke up you opened a Smurfs movie and Smurfs 2 CD, you were super excited but more excited to have your hair done and finally allowed to wear that dress!

The 'hair girls' arrived at the crack of dawn and as instructed, Kim and Kristin were ready.  They took their places and the magic and chaos of the day had kicked off.

Then all of a sudden things started to come together. Amongst all of the choas and through all of the people, bags, food, flowers,  and  packages a real-life princess emerged.

Jennie was absolutely breathtaking!
She left an hour before the rest of us were due to leave so that her and Tom could take some pictures alone and have their first moment on this day together.

One by one the bridesmaids and flower girls were ready.

We made our way to the hotel lobby to board the shuttle that was taking us to the church.

she could not stop twirling!

We arrived to the church right on time and the pictures began- starting with the girls striking a pose.

The ceremony started at 2:30 pm and everything was perfect!

The kids did great and everything looked so beautiful!

After the ceremony we loaded the party bus the fun continued!

We made a few stops for pictures and drinks- the weather could not have been more perfect.
My little princess, fast asleep amongst all the celebrating.....so sweet.

We made our way to the reception and finally got to see all the months of hardwork pay off!
The place was gorgeous!

Feather centerpieces looked sooooo good

My water-globe table numbers

The place cards

The candy bar was amazing!  Complete with cotton candy- Carolyn really out did herself with this!

REAL happy that these came out as good as I was hoping

Champagne guest books

The REAL Barbie and Ken

As the cake was being served, Hailey's was complete with a birthday candle and once again a room full of people singing Happy Birthday to her!

This view when the sun started to set was the most amazing!

Hailey was the life of the party on the dance floor!  She could not get enough!

Hannah had fun while she lasted but once again, the party was a little too hard for her.

It was an event to remember- I love Jennie's perspective on her day.
I can not WAIT to see the professional pictures, they are going to be amazing!

Happy Birthday Hailey- 4 looks great on you!
Happy Wedding Day Jennie and Tom!
