Day 14 | View |
One of my favorite things about living in Minnesota is being able to experience four distinct seasons each year. Throughout the year we have the same scenery with different VIEWS. Our family spends a lot of time outside and because of the doggie-land mines in the backyard most of our playing occurs in the driveway.
SPRING
You can always tell its spring. Everyone wants to be outside. Too cold to be without a jacket but too warm to bundle up. Our windows are open. Brian starts to get the itch to wash the cars in the driveway. The grass is starting to turn green, the plants are starting to bud. The air smells cool and clean and the birds have started reminding us all that they are back in town. The girls get their bikes out and I get a VIEW of my family enjoying each others company and being able to finally stretch their legs.
SUMMER
When Hannah was younger we bought her a small kiddie pool. There was only so much that she could do with the pool so one day to spice things up I got out her little slide. Instant waterpark = instant game changer. She LOVED it. The girls will spend hours outside in the pool going down the slide, taking turns. Most of my summer will be spent sitting in a chair with this VIEW. The radio in the garage is on. I have a basket of snacks and drinks next to me and a book that I mean to read but find myself glued to daughter-show going on in front of my eyes.
FALL
The sun is starting to set earlier and earlier and the kids havent gotten all of their play out yet. The leaves are falling from the trees and Brian is spending a lot of time cleaning off the driveway. I like living in an established neighborhood with mature trees but it sure does make a mess. The VIEW I see from the window of the girls playing in the leaves warms my heart. There will only be so many of these years where they find this enjoyable. Soon the leaves will become scratchy and a bother- not the form of entertainment that they are today.
WINTER
Things start to die. The air becomes unbearable- no human being should ever be exposed to the types of temperatures that we experience. The snow falls and the driveway needs to be clear. The girls want to help but as their gloves become wet they become cold and their noses start to run as their faces become numb. The VIEW is breathtaking as trees are covered in ice and snow and the houses are lit up with Christmas lights. The house is full of melted snow piles and most of the season we are wishing for it to be over however deep inside we all know that we would miss it if it never came.
Day 15 | 9:15 am |
I was anticipating this moment.
I was actually thinking about it last night after I looked at my schedule and realized that I didnt have any meetings. Not even one. That means that I will be at my desk working. Doesnt sound too exciting.
I had an idea to call my sister. Its Karis Birthday today and being that she is also taking this class with me- how cool would it be to call her to wish her a Happy Birthday right at 9:15. But then I realizedI dont want to steal this moment from her. I dont want to contaminate her natural 9:15 am event. I could picture her at home, also anticipating this moment and then realizing at 9:20 that she missed it. Like the kid that waits up for Santa, the excitement finally exhausts you and you miss it. So I decided not to call, at least not at 9:15.
This morning on my drive to work I was thinking about my morning. Wondering what will play out at 9:15 am to be forever documented . I was listening to my newest favorite song and thought to myself that it would be fun if this song was playing at 9:15.
8:30 am- sitting with my friends at work talking about my assignment for today. Realizing at that moment that this is not the point. I am getting a little too hypersensitive about this today and I need to just naturally let things happen. I headed back to my office and started to work.
I logged onto Client Connect- a networking site that allows other Allscripts customers (our Electronic Health Record vendor) to collaborate and share ideas.
I found a few people that needed some help so I was gathering screenshots and singing along to my iPhone that was providing the tunes out of my iHome radio.
My song came on. Payphone by Maroon 5 (newest favorite). I looked up and it was 9:15!
Seriously. My playlists are set to shuffle , my phone will play Christmas music in July but then today was so smart it knew the song I needed to hear when I needed to hear it! Couldnt have planned it better if I tried.
Other favorite songs at this time in my life
· Fine by Me by Andy Grammar
· Drive By by Train
· Umbrella by Train
· Boyfriend by Justin Bieber (dont judge me)
· What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction
· Come On by Green River Ordinance
· Stay Here by Lee DeWyze
· You Rock My World by Michael Jackson
· Loving You Tonight by Andrew Allen
· Easy by The Commadores
· Home by Phillip Phillips

I instant messaged Loriann - Whew! I almost missed it.
Something fun about instant messaging to the person who is just next store- dont really wanna promote laziness but its fun to send that message and then hear their natural reaction to the message you just sent. Response I got back was awwww!
5 minutes later my office door swung open and there he was! Justin Bieber x 3!
I recently purchased tickets to the Justin Bieber concert for Hannah. I am probably just as excited as she is to go- the girls here know and have been teasing me about my Bieber Fever for the past few weeks. I deserve it.
And there stood three of my coworkers, Justin Bieber masks-on-a-stick, Baby playing in the background, dancing and all.
It. Was. Awesome.
