We're on a Boat!

We went for a pontoon ride today.  Mom and Tom bought a new pontoon and although it was a little sad that our boat isn't in the water yet, it's nice to be on the water anyway we can get there.

Bati, Agustin, Hannah, Nico, Hailey

It's been a long time since we have been under this bridge and on the river.
It was super exciting to approach the bridge today!  It was sort of silly but we all cheered and on one hand I felt like we had been 'set free' and there was a whole new world to explore!
It was a beautiful day.  The sky was gorgeous and the weather could not have been better.

I hate when life goes back to normal and we don't see these boys all the time.
These kids sure do have fun together.

Hailey is a HUGE fan of her cousins and many times will just reach out and grab them.

Nico's signature dance- reminds me of the Weekend at Bernie's dance

Today is the Pine County Fair so about 3:15 we went to town to claim our spot and wait for the parade to start.  The kids know the drill- Grandma gets them bags with their names on them, we pack up some drinks (nothing with sugar this year to keep the bees away), make sure we have sunscreen, blankets, chairs.
Get to our spot and unpack.  Kids take the curb and wait.
It was fun to see how much different Hailey reacted this year.  Not noticeable to anyone but her mom, but instead of waiting on the curb or near an adult- she was on the curb with the other kids.  As soon as the parade started she was standing near the curb, dancing along to the marching band and floats that drove by.

After the parade we packed up and headed down Main Street to find a place to park at the fair.
As expected, the road was backed up.  Everyone was leaving the parade and tons of people were headed to the fair as well- many of them walking along the road.
We were stopped in the middle of the street watching the crowds walk faster than we were moving.  We had made some jokes about how we should just park the truck and start to walk but then the cars would start moving again and we would get ahead again.  There was one lady who kept gaining on us.
Can you spot her in the picture?

We did eventually beat her but she almost had us!

We spent a few hours at the fair.  Got some cheese curds, ice cream, corn dogs, french fries, and mini donuts.

The girls were really anxious to go on some rides- as we were waiting in line for the mini-roller coaster I looked down and spotted this.....melts my heart!

We used the last of our ride tickets on the Ferris Wheel.  Kristin and I went with the girls.
I had never been on a Ferris Wheel like this.  The only one I have ever been on is the one at ValleyFair which is pretty huge.  The cars are more secure feeling and I don't remember the one there moving so fast.

Kristin and I were both a little freaked by this ride.  It went super fast and there wasn't a whole lot of anything holding you in.  Of course we kept our cool so the kids wouldn't get nervous :-)

Looks like an awesome time! That's my worst nightmare about carnivals - getting trapped on a ride that is more intense than I can handle!
