The Chicks

Thank goodness for added shows!
The Dixie Chicks announced their tour earlier this year.  They have not been on tour in almost 10 years!  I have seen them a few times before but knew that I needed to attend this concert!

Once the tickets went on sale I was on it.  Although the rest of the world was too. I was offered some tickets way far away and was sure that I could do better so I released them.  Once I tried again I started to get the messages- No tickets available.  WHAT?!
I got this message for the next 30 minutes until finally I tried searching a smaller number of tickets.  Maybe I will get three individual seats, maybe I could do two and two?  I was finally able to secure three seats.  Two in the handicap area and one additional companion seat in the grandstand. Shoot!  I need four tickets but I also need to be there.  I need to buy these and figure something out later.
So, the tickets were purchased and the stress started (what in the world did I do?  How do we determine who goes?  How do I seriously sit in a handicap area?)
A few weeks later they announced that due to the high demand they were going to add another show the next day.  THANK GOODNESS!
I was able to secure four seats to the show and sell the others I had previously purchased.
Crisis averted.

As expected the show was awesome!

Last Weekend Together

This is our last weekend at the cabin with Kari and her family.
They leave this week :-(
Grandpa Dan brought the kids some fun flavored sodas: Doggy Drool and Kitty Piddle.
The boys had a Dinosaur and Racecar Fuel theme.
They were too anxious to taste them that they didn't even cool them or put them in the fridge at all.  Because they were warm they were REALLY fizzy, the kids were not a huge fan of that.

Thankful For Grass

Today I am so thankful for grass!
For the first time since we moved in, it's time to get the windows washed.
I can't wait to get rid of these smudges!
The window washing company we have coming not only cleans the outside but they also wash screens, sills and insides of windows!  Yes please!  I can tell this is going to be a new yearly must.
Too bad they don't do blinds!

It was amazing watching these guys get to the top floors to wash the windows. They were only here for a few hours and were able to get everything done.
They did a great job.

Picnic Dinner

The kids and I went to Mavericks with Kari and Andy tonight for dinner.
We got to sit outside and even though the mosquitos were out it was a nice night to be outside.
The end of August is always hard :-(  Only a matter of time before the family leaves.

This is such a great picture of Kari and her family!
It's crazy how big all of these kids are getting.  The boys are such good kids.
It will be fun to see what type of lives they make for themselves.  Both are so smart and have creative, engineering minds.

How Does This Happen?!

It always sort of creeps me out when my phone gives me a heads up on how long I can expect my trip to take.  It always seems to alert me as soon as I get into the car.  How on earth does it know that that's where I am going?!  This seriously creeps me out a little....

Kids snuggled in to watch a movie- LOVE

Caution- Artists at work

Today at work there was a 'wellness event' held outside on the front sidewalk.  Employees were able to come out and make chalk art on the sidewalk.  Then in the afternoon staff could come out and vote for their favorite.  The winners won gift cards.  These were by far the coolest two!

Tree Down

Kiley and Lindsay came to the cabin with us this weekend.  There was a huge tree down so it was all hands on deck-  Brian and Bobby cut it up while the girls and I made multiple trips to the dump to dump the brush and stumps.  It took a few hours but with all of the teamwork, we got it done.

Butt Cape

This morning while getting ready for school Hailey asked if she could wear a butt cape.  I seriously had no idea what she was talking about but gave my approval anyways.
She came down with her sweatshirt tied around her waist, I guess this is what they call a butt cape.

Only

LOL- This picture pretty much sums up our Uncle Bob.
Although the best part about this picture is that he is only wearing a tshirt and sweatshirt.
Only.  In 90 degree weather.
This is a huge accomplishment.  Usually it's a tshirt, long sleeve shirt AND sweatshirt.  Losing that button down had to have felt great.  Making progress guys, making progress.

Tonight Jennie and I went to the Gwen Stefani concert.  It was a last minute decision that was a pretty good one I might add.  Her show was full of energy but I have to admit I was pretty surprised at the small turn out.  Half way through the show she made a comment about how she was so happy because her favorite person in the world was here and since she could, she would and then called Blake out on stage.  The crowd went NUTS!

Soccer Tourney, Parade and Fair. Oh My!

Busy day today.  The girls had their end of year soccer tournament.
They played great!  Hannah's team was real good this year.
Hailey's team....not so much.
They both had a ton of fun and are already talking about next year.

Pine City parade and fair were today so we left right after the games and made our way to the City 'o Pine.  The rest of the family was already there so we just met them in town on the road in our usual spot. Afterwards we spent some time at the fair.

National Night Out 2017

It's always a nice time when the whole 'hood can get together.
Tonight we organized an ice cream social in the cul de sac.
Acie managed to bring a National Guard Hummer and inflatable basketball game- the kids loved playing in the truck.
Brian, Hailey and I left early to go to her soccer game and Hannah stayed back.
Thankfully the party was still going on when we got back.

Just Like I Imagined

Came home from the cabin this weekend to find my mudroom project done!
I had no doubt that Brian would do a beautiful job and he definitely did not let me down!
I am so thankful for him and the fact that he is so great at all of this!

My bench looks JUST like I imagined :-)
Our cabinet has three drawers and a cabinet with multiple shelves to hold shoes!  I am so excited to get my floor back!!

Hailey also lost another tooth today!  I love this age and all of these holes in their mouths.

It Could Have Been Ugly

This week the cabin got another new feature!  A new back door.  It is SO MUCH better than the door that was on there before.  There is even a storm door now which is so nice to have that extra layer of security.  Things sure are starting to look great around here.

We bought the kids Bunchees for an activity for the cabin this weekend.  These are little plastic balls with Velcro-like edges.  They made some pretty cute creations.
The kids were in the bedroom playing when all of a sudden they came out with a handful of them stuck into Hailey's hair!  UGH!  After about an hour of work we finally got them all out and didn't even need to use the scissors.  Of course there is a small warning on the box about keeping away from hair that none of us read, but by the feel of these it would seem as though they would untangle fairly easily. Ummm, no.  Sure, they came out but I would highly recommend to keep them away from hair and not take the chance. It could have been ugly.

Adventures in Babysitting

Kristin and Bobby had a wedding in Maple Grove tonight so I had the pleasure of watching Davis!
Remember how I have been telling you how incredibly happy this kid is?  That all he does is smile?
Well, not the case tonight!
It started out great!  And then it started.  The screaming.
He would stop for a few minutes and then once you he was done he would start up again.
The only thing that could get him to stop was Brian.
Each time I would take him back he would start again and once Brian would take him from me, quiet.

After a while I took him for a walk.  He seemed to enjoy that a lot!

When we got home from the walk it was time for a bottle, after that we hung out watching TV and he eventually fell asleep.  I could have put him down but there was NO way I was giving him up again.
